New design direct-mount 10/25kN 3-Drum winch has been inspected by a major Sydney based electricity authority (September, 2010)

New design direct-mount 10/25kN 3-Drum winch has been inspected by a major Sydney based electricity authority and will be delivered shortly. This new winch is mounted on a four-wheel drive truck (Isuzu 800-235) and is designed for remote access for installation of new conductors for overhead tension stringing of three conductors simultaneously with constant line pull of up to 10kN or alternatively, can be used for installation of underground cables using one winch with line pull up to 25kN. When using 25kN winch, the pulling cable goes through an all angle sheave assembly making it easy to direct pulling cable to underground ducts. Removing the diesel power pack which is traditionally supplied with skid-mounted winches of this type has reduced the overall weight, making it possible to install the winch on a relatively small cab chassis. The unit is also provided with a horse power controlled variable displacement pump to suit the standard gearbox PTO. This configuration was specially designed by Redmond Gary Australia to suit the customer’s specific requirements.
