Triple 6-Tonne Drum Stand assembly delivered to Energy Australia (January, 2010)

Energy Australia has received a new Triple 6-Tonne Drum Stand. This is a similar unit to the ones previously supplied except that it has integrated PTO hydraulic drive capable of driving all three drums simultaneously.

Each drum is provided with a 10kN Drum Drive and is also provide with heavy duty spindle brake. Although each drum stand is capable of carrying up to 6000kg, they are intended to carry only 3000kg when all three drums are loaded to stay within the load carrying capacity of the Isuzu 6 x 4 truck. The proportional pump and load sense hydraulic system enables the operator to select any one or all three rotators to run together. Speed controls are located on the side of each drum and variable pressure hydraulic disc brakes are provided for each drum assembly. The whole unit is hot dip galvanised and is provide with an aluminium fold-down walkway and safety system.

The unit is mounted onto an intermediate frame which is fixed to the truck deck with container locks. Each drum stand is fixed to the intermediate frame with the aid of container locks. Each drum stand is a separate unit and can be taken off the truck and used for other applications. The unit is intended to be used for tension stringing of overhead conductors. The completed unit was inspected by Graham Reibelt, Engineering Officer from Energy Australia and will be put into service in January this year.
