Power Training Services WA (December, 2012)

Power Training Services WA (PTS) runs a training organisation and consultancy service and is part of Western Power located in Jandakot, approximately 15kms from the Perth CBD. This large facility includes technical training facilities, overhead power line facilities with system voltages used in Australia including 12.7kV – 19.1kV Single Phase, 22kV and 33kV and a training facility for switching and underground operations. This extensive facility is responsible for training Western Power’s personnel and contractors throughout Western Australia.

Recently their head trainer, Mike Millardhurst, ordered a number of new machines from Redmond Gary Australia. This new state-of-the-art equipment will enhance the training capabilities of the centre and also increase safety when working with large drums of cable and winching equipment. This new equipment will be used for training apprentices and experienced personnel in the latest techniques for installation of overhead and underground cable systems. The current set of delivery includes 4 x 6-tonne cable drum stands with integrated disc type drag brakes, 1 x 3-Tonne self loading cable drum trailer with 500kg drum drive and 1 x 20kN trailer-mounted winch that can be used for hauling underground cable as well as for overhead applications.
