Redmond Gary Australia Delivers TL17M MEWP to Norfolk Island (March, 2016)

A team of four RGA Employees have recently returned from a trip to Norfolk Island where they fitted the new TL17M model EWP onto an existing HINO cab chassis. This new EWP replaces the older model 17M EWP previously used on the island for a little over 10 years.

Given the isolation of Norfolk Island, the logistics of this build were a little out of the ordinary compared to our usual EWP build. Specifically, in this instance, RGA came to the truck rather than the truck coming to us!

The subframe and boom left our premises before Christmas and despite a few delays, namely the vessel carrying the unit breaking down mid journey and detouring back to New Zealand, the TL17M subframe arrived in Norfolk in early February. The subframe and boom made it to shore straddling two lighters and being towed by another boat.

A crew of two tradesmen from our Service Department along with Darren, our Customer Support Officer, arrived on island in early March and one of our Auto Electricians joined them a week later. In less than a fortnight, the team of RGA employees were able to complete the entire job and train the operators (all the while even managing a spot of fishing).

We’ve had positive feedback from Norfolk. The new EWP has been put to work and the workgroups have praised the functionality and ease of use of the machine and are enjoying using the new equipment.
