REDMOND GARY AUSTRALIA TURNS 60! – FEBRUARY 2023

Redmond Gary Australia management and staff stopped work to celebrate 60 years in business. The company started from small beginnings as a two-man engineering business called Danks Engineering. The business was mainly involved in servicing requirements for the local city council and doing jobbing work for local customers.

The company name was changed to Redmond Gary Pty Ltd and subsequently, in 1995 the company name was then changed to Redmond Gary Australia Pty Ltd.

As time went on, the company started to manufacture parts for new trucks including, Mack Trucks Australia, Ford Australia, DAF and Western Star. The company became one of the largest suppliers of truck parts to Mack Trucks and at the time we employed up to 120 staff.

At that time, the company started to move away from manufacturing truck parts and began manufacturing Self Loading Cable Drum Trailers and associated equipment for Electricity Authorities.

Redmond Gary Australia was approached by Sydney Electricity and asked to look into manufacturing MEWPs. With very little experience in this field, we contracted an engineer who was ex-Abbey Equipment to carry out a market survey to advise the best configuration of an MEWP to service Australian Distribution Networks. The winning concept was a tele-fly design.

After considerable effort in research and development over a 2 year period, the first MEWP TF13M was manufactured. The following year a second design of the MEWP model TF16M was added. These MEWP’s have been subject to constant design improvement, making them very popular with operators and electricity authorities.

In 2016 the MEWPs were completely re-designed to improve their performance. The design was based on feedback from a range of end users to optimise the design and give a next-level performance. Out of this process, three new models are now offered. TL14M, TL16M & TL17M.

These machines are still manufactured today and are still subject to continuous improvement processes to optimize all aspects of the machine from an operator and maintenance point of view.

During the same period, Redmond Gary Australia constantly added new Cable Handling equipment, trailer mounted, skid mounted and truck mounted to handle overhead, underground and fibre optic cables for installation and maintenance to customers in Australia and around the world.

All this could never be achieved without the dedicated staff we have at Redmond Gary Australia. We have many staff members that have been with the company for more than 25 years and they are all very much appreciated.
